Local metadata engine notices Local metadata engine notices This browser tool uses Phil Harvey's ExifTool 13.59 and a Perl WebAssembly runtime. The file being inspected stays in the browser. The following notices identify the packaged components and their licenses. ExifTool Copyright Phil Harvey and contributors. The official source is pinned to commit 2200871d9cef988051d2a99d67df3bda6cbb30a8 [https://github.com/exiftool/exiftool/tree/2200871d9cef988051d2a99d67df3bda6cbb30a8]. The CLI, library and README license the software under the same terms as Perl: the Artistic License or the GNU General Public License. The repository also includes a GPL version 3 license file, retained here for reference. See ExifTool README [ExifTool-README.txt], Artistic License [Perl-Artistic.txt], Perl GPL text [Perl-GPL-1.txt] and repository license file [ExifTool-LICENSE-repository.txt]. The packaged current source is available here [exiftool-source-13.59.bin]. Perl runtime and wrapper Perl 5.42.0 is copyright Larry Wall and the Perl contributors and is distributed under the Artistic License or GNU General Public License. The license texts above are from the official Perl 5.42.0 source [https://github.com/Perl/perl5/tree/v5.42.0]. ZeroPerl is by US Writing and its contributors, distributed under the MIT License [ZeroPerl-MIT.txt]. Its upstream source is colorhythm/zeroperl [https://github.com/colorhythm/zeroperl] and 6over3/zeroperl [https://github.com/6over3/zeroperl]. The packaged runtime was obtained through @colorhythm/exiftool-wasm 1.0.4 [https://github.com/colorhythm/exiftool-wasm/tree/1f14f846f676c105e0c07ef51dd4d0a6a2c0ff50], distributed under the Apache License 2.0 [Apache-2.0.txt]. Package integrity was verified against the registry digest. The compiled runtime has not been independently rebuilt from source. Changes for this tool Global Digital Forensics removed the wrapper's public write and CLI convenience APIs and retained its Perl runtime prefix. The sole WebAssembly memory declaration now has a 256 MiB maximum. Two unsupported CLI signal assignments are replaced by browser-worker termination comments. The current official ExifTool CLI, all 225 Perl module files and all 15 Perl include files are mounted separately and their version and loaded module path are checked before inspection. A GDF read-only portability bridge provides bounded ZIP and complete deflate-stream decoding through browser APIs. This bridge is a compatibility layer, not a claim that the full native Archive::Zip or Compress::Zlib libraries are present. Extraction options are fixed and disable external configuration. No file-write, script or user-supplied command options are offered. Extraction limits The tool requests descriptive and numeric values, structured tags, duplicate groups, unknown tags and embedded-document metadata. Limits apply to file size, processing time, output, compressed streams and memory. Binary payloads are described rather than exported. Unsupported codecs, encrypted or oversized archive members, multipart and ZIP64 archives can remain unavailable. The optional ExifTool geolocation database is not packaged. This browser build does not promise every result from a native ExifTool installation. Browser-created System attributes, the ungrouped virtual SourceFile path and generated engine time, GUID, UUID, file-sequence and processing-time fields are excluded. Embedded custom fields with those names are retained. File container facts and computed Composite values remain labeled. Metadata can be absent, modified or inconsistent and does not establish authenticity.
