Technical field guide
The sections below preserve the service-specific depth behind eDiscovery Cloud Collections, edited for the current national practice and its documented engagement model. Methods are selected for the source, authorization, system state and assigned specialty. No single tool or artifact establishes a conclusion, and legal, regulatory or certification decisions remain with the responsible authority.
Collect from the account or tenant with scope intact
Cloud collection starts with the custodian, account, tenant, date range, data type and legal scope, then selects the supported provider method. The record identifies the authenticated source, administrative role, filters, export or API path, collection time, exceptions and transfer integrity. This is more useful than a bulk export whose limits are unknown.
Email, business suites and cloud storage
eCloud Discovery is designed for supported collections from email providers and business suites including Gmail, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, together with supported on-premises email sources. Cloud-file scope can include Box, Dropbox, ShareFile and other configured repositories. Exact data types, metadata, retention and administrative access vary by provider, license and tenant configuration and are confirmed before collection.
Mailbox and file collections can preserve native items and available metadata, with filters applied for approved custodians, dates, folders, labels or repositories. Provider throttling, inaccessible items, deleted-data retention and export limits belong in the exception record.
Slack, Teams, Zoom and collaboration data
Supported collaboration work can include Slack, Microsoft Teams and Zoom records. Messages, threads, edits, reactions, attachments, recordings, transcripts and participant data are available only when the platform, retention policy, license and administrative role expose them. The collection plan identifies the conversation model so threaded data is not flattened without a record of its relationships.
Search, culling and export
Collected data can be searched, de-NISTed where that method is appropriate, deduplicated and prepared in native, image, text or load-file formats for downstream review systems. AI-assisted search can help narrow a large corpus, but search logic, sampling, human decisions and exclusions should be documented. Counsel controls responsiveness, privilege and production decisions.
Collection and chain-of-custody record
The delivery can include collection logs, authenticated-source details, integrity values, exception and reconciliation records, processed volumes and an export manifest. Hashes identify collected packages or items at documented stages; they do not by themselves prove that a provider returned every record that existed.
